It is the fixed point of the installation: it bolts to the chassis, frame or cabinet and takes the end of the gas spring, which pivots on it as it opens.
The M8 × 1.25 thread takes the threaded end fitting directly, with no ball cup. Also available in zinc-plated steel: KBI14M8.
