How to choose a support or clamp

Take the three dimensions of the support and the hole pattern first of all, because that is what decides whether the part fits the existing space. Then weigh up the load it will carry and whether the mounting works in tension or in shear, and confirm that the zinc-plated finish is enough for the exposure it will see under the frame.
