How to choose a camera and monitor

Start with the angle: 120° covers the rear of most vehicles, while 155° or 175° take in wide vehicles or the side blind spot. Then decide between wired and wireless: on a trailer that is hitched and unhitched, running the video to the cab is what complicates the installation. Finally, count how many cameras you will watch and whether you need a split screen or recording.

  • Check that monitor and camera use the same signal, AHD or wireless.
  • Count the cameras: 3 channels, or 4 with a quad-view screen.
  • Consider night vision if you manoeuvre after dark.
