It is the counterpart to the ball cup: it mounts on the bracket and provides the ball that the gas spring end fitting clips onto, letting the assembly pivot.
Choose the cup with the same 13 mm ball diameter: that is the figure that pairs the two parts. The M8 × 1.25 thread is what fixes the stud to the bracket or chassis.
